Here's how to create a perfect fingerprint for your engraving:

There are two simple methods to make a hand or footprint:

The pencil method: Rub a dark spot on a piece of paper with a soft pencil. Lightly press your hand or foot onto it, place a piece of tape over it, and carefully peel it off. Then simply stick it onto a white piece of paper and upload a sharp photo of it.

Using an ink pad: Apply ink to your hand or foot and press it onto a piece of white paper. Then photograph the print and upload it – done!

Directions:

1. Draw an area on a piece of paper using a soft pencil.
2. Run your finger over the surface until your fingertip is completely colored.
3. Stick a piece of clear tape over your colored fingertip.
4. Repeat the process until enough paint has adhered to the tape and you are satisfied with the result.
5. Stick the tape onto white paper and send us a photo of it.
6. We digitally optimize your impression to ensure your engraving is perfect.

Important questions and answers

Any print will work – the only important thing is that the fingerprint is clearly recognizable and not too dark, so that the fine lines remain clearly visible. If your print isn't perfect in some places, that's no problem – we'll digitally retouch it and optimize the lines for a perfect engraving result.
